Teekanne is a powerful brand that is widely considered the inventor of the teabag. Today, it is also a major player in the German and European food industries. When a company like Teekanne asks you to design a new, innovative laboratory, you know you’ve got a prestigious assignment on your hands.
Teekanne is one of the largest tea producers in Germany. Quality is essential and continuous quality control of tea leaves is of the utmost importance. The current lab was in dire need of attention, and renovation was not a viable option due to the old structure of the building. Therefore, we started out by conducting several extensive studies into possible alternatives, such as the creation of new buildings and the renovation of other existing buildings on Teekanne’s campus.
Based on our studies, Teekanne was able to carefully consider all options and ultimately decided to create a new lab in an existing building on the campus, close to the production site.
Various processes take place in the quality lab, including sample preparation, analysis and the post-production of tea. The lab was created in close collaboration with Teekanne technicians, who helped us navigate various challenges and requirements. For example, the lab needed to be efficient and easy to expand, but it also needed to represent the company’s image and values, as it often receives customers and visitors to headquarters.
In order to accommodate all the technology, new installation space was needed on the roof. For the interior, we chose a pattern that provides maximum flexibility, so that the space can be easily adjusted. The calm, highly professional corporate interior has a lot of glass, which radiates transparency and trust.
