Since 2022, we have been closely involved in the development of the new Slingeland Hospital, located along the A18 motorway near Doetinchem. At the heart of this the green healthcare campus is a highly efficient hospital for complex care (including emergency room, operating theatres, intensive care, imaging and outpatient clinics). Everything else that patients and visitors need is within easy reach: primary care, rehabilitation, medical aids and pleasant catering facilities.
Slingeland Healthcare Campus
The healthcare campus has four buildings. From the large car park, a footbridge takes you to the outpatient clinic on the first floor of the hospital. The hospital is directly connected to the Care Boulevard by a long axis. From there, you can reach the groundbreaking De Brugge Rehabilitation Centre, run by Sensire and Klimmendaal. The organic unity is immediately striking. Horizontal bands, the facades with soft green tones—these cohesive features make the buildings seem one.

From physiotherapy to general practitioners and midwives, from prescriptions to crutches, lenses and arch supports—you will find it all on the Care Boulevard. It is here where all primary care and various commercial care partners come together. With all care and services in one place, your visit to Zorgcampus Slingeland becomes as efficient and pleasant as possible.

The ensemble of buildings has been carefully integrated into the beautiful bocage landscape. Here, along the Oude IJssel, the historic rows of trees are being carefully restored. There are no fences anywhere on the campus; the emphasis is on openness, beautiful views and lots of greenery. Even the bicycle shed is made of wood and has a green roof. The old farmhouse ‘t IJsseltje, a municipal monument, is also being incorporated into the campus and will be repurposed as a meeting room.
De Brugge Rehabilitation Centre
Slingeland Healthcare Campus gives insects, birds and bats space to thrive. Bird and bat boxes have been integrated into the design of the car park, which has a wooden façade and vertical vegetation. Partly thanks to this approach, the campus more than meets the legal guidelines for nature inclusivity in new buildings. But more importantly, of course, flora and fauna keep the environment green and healthy.
