Clinical laboratory

Concentration and collaboration

A number of hospitals have taken the initiative to work together closely for specific laboratory purposes. This collaboration will create synergy between the various institutes, laboratory technicians and medical practitioners. Concentrating the laboratory activities will also lead to essential operational efficiency, creating space to invest in acquiring knowledge and expertise.

The next step in the development of the shared laboratory is building a new site. The new building will house the required laboratories and offices and will become the central location from which to provide clinical services for the hospitals. An auditorium, restaurant and accompanying training and meeting facilities satisfy the ambitions regarding research, innovation and training.

Then creating the vision for the project, new forms of collaboration in the office and laboratory environments are key. Smart Working is the guiding principle in the design and layout of the building units. The new building is organised around a central spatial ‘heart’, where meetings, collaboration and communication are self-evident occurrences.
